Adam J. Eisen
Hello! I’m a PhD candidate in Brain and Cognitive Sciences at MIT . I’m advised by Earl K. Miller & Ila R. Fiete. I’m from Toronto, Canada, and did my undergraduate degree in Applied Mathematics & Computer Engineering at Queen’s University.
I’m interested in understanding consciousness and the nature of thought, as well as how thinking can go awry in psychiatric and mood disorders. To build an understanding of these phenomena, I develop data-driven mathematical tools to characterize changes in brain activity, primarily using dynamical systems theory.
Aside from research, I love to write & play music , hike and be active , and cook . If you’re bored and looking for some music to listen to, I’m a writer and musician for my good pal Erez Zobary.

Feb 22, 2024 | I’m honoured that a piece I wrote is included in the beautiful second volume of the zine MIND OCEAN SPACE. If you want to give it a read, a full pdf of the zine is available for free through the provided link. My piece (on page 32!) is called “Mapping the Mountains and Valleys of the Mind” and gives a gentle introduction to my research interests. I’ve also formatted it as a blog post on this website, readable here. |
